Oracle Financial Systems-Planned Outages PeopleSoft Applications-Planned Outages
  • Daily: Core financial systems are unavailable from 8:00 - 8:15 p.m. each weeknight when transactional data is loaded to the Harvard Data Warehouse.

The CREW Reporting system is unavailable from 8:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. daily.
  • Monthly: Routine maintenance is performed on the third weekend of each month, if needed. On a maintenance weekend, the systems are unavailable from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. A message will appear on the "splash" / welcome page of the applications themselves if the scheduled maintenance time will need to be used.
  • Quarterly: A significant upgrade to the financial applications, known as a "FINDINI release," is done every two to four months. Each upgrade introduces needed bug fixes, enhancements, and technical upgrades into Harvard's production systems. Generally, releases are performed on weekends to assure maximum availability during the business week.
  • Future releases: Information regarding the next Oracle release will posted here when it becomes available.
  • Future releases: Due to HR Release 24.0, PeopleSoft and HIRES transmissions to PeopleSoft will be unavailable starting on Friday, September 11th at 5:00pm until Monday, September 14th at 8:00am.
  • Daily: Transactional processing should not occur during the hours of 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. daily. Data entry can cause nightly processing to fail and for reporting data to be incomplete the following day. You may only view data during this time period.
  • Weekly: An outage to perform routine system backup occurs from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sundays. This is followed by routine maintenance from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Often, this maintenance "window" is not used.
  • Monthly: The monthly pension process usually runs on the first Saturday of each month, from about 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. An email reminder is sent to all users each month, with the exact times.

When the pension process is running, NO DATA ENTRY can be made to Job data or Personal data. Doing so will cause the pension process to fail or process incorrect pension data. Note: Time and Labor users are not impacted.

The pension process updates employees' pension eligibility, vesting status, participation status, and service.
