Internal Competitions and Limited Submissions

Internal Competitions and Limited Submissions are funding opportunities that restrict the number of applicants from the University. For these awards the University will announce the opportunity and require pre-proposals. Once pre-proposals are received, a committee will be convened by the Provost's Office to determine which proposal(s) will be approved for submission to the sponsor. Nominees are informed of the committee's decision, develop their proposals, and apply via OSP through normal pre-award office procedures.

Review of pre-proposals for some opportunities in the biological sciences are handled by the University Committee on Biological Sciences (UCBS), which meets twice a year. Those opportunities are listed on the UCBS site (for FAS applicants) or on the HMS Red Book site (for medical area applicants).
