PeopleSoft 8.9 Upgrade - 04/16/07      top

As reported last month, the University will be releasing a major upgrade to its PeopleSoft Human Resource Management System (HRMS) on Monday, April 16th. This upgrade will introduce a new look and method of navigation. In addition to the new features, the upgrade will entail a "retrofit" of the Harvard Data Warehouse and related CREW HR Reports. This upgrade also creates the necessary foundation to support the implementation of the Absence Management module, which is scheduled for release June 1, 2007.

Refer to the February issue of the eNews for details about the PeopleSoft upgrade and for links to upgrade training materials. Further information will also appear in next month’s eNews.

PeopleSoft 8.9 Upgrade - Security Freeze      top

In preparation for the 8.9 PeopleSoft Upgrade in April, there will be a temporary freeze on security changes. This freeze will begin on Monday, April 9, 2007 and go through Friday, April 13, 2007. All department, time & labor group, location code and user security requests will be accepted during this time but will not be processed until Monday, April 16, 2007. All new hires and terminations will continue to be automatically processed during that week.

For any questions, please contact your local HR Authorized Requestor or your Applications Administrator.

HIRES to Introduce a Consolidated Hire Form      top

Following the 8.9 PeopleSoft Upgrade in April, HIRES will have a new consolidated Hire Form. This form will take the place of the previous four forms that existed in HIRES (New Hire Form, Re-Hire Form, Job Data Change/Transfer Form, and Add Concurrent Job Form). Additionally, the HIRES Hire Form has been streamlined to ease data entry. Some fields that existed in the old form were removed. These fields have either become obsolete or default from other fields.

Job Data Changes and Transfers should continue to be processed using the PeopleSoft Job Data Change Form, but the HIRES Hire Form can be used to process all other transactions. New Hires will get an HUID upon transmit to PeopleSoft. Re-Hires and Add Concurrent Job employees will require manual data entry by Central Payroll.

Refer to the HIRES Hire Form Overview for additional details and screenshots.
